Dear Reader,
This edition is all about taking the legwork out of measurement. You'll find mud data reaching the driller's cabin without a single cable run, sensors calibrated from a phone or tablet, and a smarter way to control slurry in investment casting. On the product side, our full Thermal Control Module line now lives on one page. We've also refreshed our Careers page, in case you'd like to help build what comes next.
Let’s dive in.
Thanks for reading,
The Rheonics Team
In case you missed it 📢
1. No more cable runs between the mud tanks and the driller's cabin
Bridging the gap between the mud tanks and the driller’s cabin has always been a challenge. With wireless SRV and SRD sensors over LoRaWAN or Wi-Fi, Modbus data streams straight into Ignition, Node-RED or cabin tablets, with no cable runs required.
Mud engineers get continuous, real-time visibility into viscosity and density. Spot checks are replaced by live monitoring, so fluid changes are caught early, before they become well control problems.
2. Rheonics + Nalco Water: a smarter way to control slurry
We're teaming up with Nalco Water, an Ecolab Company, at the Investment Casting Institute's 73rd ICI Technical Conference & Equipment Expo. We'll show how real-time slurry monitoring means tighter consistency, fewer defects and less guesswork on the shop floor. Stop by Booth 107 and see it in action.
Fresh on our website: new and updated pages 🌐
1. One page, four ways to control temperature: the new TCM hub
Static viscosity and density readings are only as good as the temperature control around the probe. Our new Thermal Control Module (TCM) page brings the full line together in one place, so you can match the setup to how and where you need to measure:
STCM — lab-based, for samples pulled from the process, with built-in or external heating/cooling
STCM-IFP — the inline variant, with automatic bypass sampling at one or several temperatures
DTCM — built for the DVM sensor, enabling high-pressure, high-temperature setups without a bulky oven
Calibrator — for on-site field calibration and drift checks, cutting downtime on annual verifications
All four pair with SRV, SRD or DVM probes and hold thermal uniformity around the sensing element for accurate, repeatable readings.
Perfect when your process and QC temperatures don’t match, or when you need lab-quality precision outside the lab.
2. Careers: build the future of density and viscosity sensing with us
Our Careers page just got a refresh. Big business expertise, startup mindset: you’ll work on the latest sensing technology, in flat, interdisciplinary teams with the freedom to build.
Global opportunities: Career paths are nurtured, and moving between places and positions in our international organization is encouraged
Real benefits: Competitive salaries, flexible working times and a stock option program for all employees
Find your fit: Apply by area of interest, from Electrical & Electronics and Mechanical & Mechatronics to Applications Engineering, Software, Web Development, Graphic Design and Marketing
Perfect if you’d like to join a team that works to save time, energy and money for industry.
Latest application articles you'll want to read 📖
1. Rheonics Sensor View App: new features and improvements
Sensor View connects your phone or tablet to Rheonics sensor systems over Bluetooth Low Energy, with live viscosity, kinematic viscosity, density and temperature on a time-based chart. The latest update goes well beyond monitoring:
HART and 4–20 mA: Configure and calibrate the analog output right in the app, next to BLE, Ethernet, Modbus RTU (RS-485) and Profinet
Scaling screen: Password-protected, guided single-point or two-point scaling, with a verification step
Tablet-ready: Responsive portrait and landscape layouts
Contextual help: A Help icon next to relevant fields explains the parameter and its expected input format
Automatic language & region detection: English, Spanish, Japanese, German, Portuguese and French
Good to know: the Communication screen is available on SME-TRD devices running Firmware Version 4.
Perfect when you want to configure and calibrate at the installation point, without a laptop.
